Event video: International Women’s Day 2021

To celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, we partnered with the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) to host an insightful, spirited and engaging lunchtime discussion with three incredible leaders from the aid and development sector.

With over 120 women in attendance, it was a successful event that perfectly encapsulated this year’s global UN Women IWD theme: “Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”.

Panelists Bettina Baldechi, CEO of IWDA; Jenny Mori, Director of Operations for WaterAid PNG and Rosie Wheen, Chief Executive of WaterAid Australia, provided authentic, honest, practical and inspiring advice that left everyone wanting more. The panel discussion was followed by small group networking sessions with the panelists, and guest speakers from WiAD and the ACFID community.

As we move through the next year we hope to heed the advice of our speakers, remembering to put ourselves out there, to intentionally search for a work environment that is supportive, encouraging and allows for growth. And remember-no superheroes allowed!

A massive thank you to our speakers and attendees for making this such a special event.

Watch the Zoom recording below and we plan to see you in person and online again in May 2021.

Event date: 9 March 2021

Guest speakers: Bettina Baldeschi, Jenny Moori, Rosie Wheen

Facilitator: Chris Franks (WiAD) and Jess Smith (ACFID)
