Governance workshop: What are Board and Director Responsibilities?

A two-hour online workshop to provide information on the governance of organisations, the skills and experience required to take a board role and the responsibilities of a director.

Topics to be covered include :

  • What is a board and what is its role?

  • What responsibilities does a board have and what can it delegate?

  • What do board members do and what are their responsibilities?

  • What do Board Committees do?

  • Who can be a director and what skills do they need?

  • How do Boards and Directors measure their performance?

Who should attend:

Women working in the aid and development sector or not-for-profit organisations with an interest in governance:

  • for personal career planning

  • to increase understanding of board and director roles.

This workshop is open to all but would best suit women in management roles who have at least five years’ experience working in the sector.

Cost:

Free for members of WiAD*. A small fee of $25 will be charged for non-members. If you work in the sector this should be tax-deductible as a training expense.

* Each organisational member may send two staff members at no cost – additional attendees will attract a fee of $25 per person
