End of Year Gathering Reflection

We recently held our last round of events for 2022 and what a wonderful way to end off our networking series for the year! 

Our end-of-year gathering saw WiAD members in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney come together to reflect on the year that was. Some reflections included:

Travelling within Australia was as much fun as going overseas. 

Undertaking fantastic training with RedR - this came up from several participants (check the courses out!) 

Loved getting to work on COP 27 materials to help close the gap and break down silos between water, energy and science disciplines

It was also so wonderful to hear that many of our WiAD community felt encouraged when featured in our #WiAW posts.

Attendees also looked forward to 2023 and shared their plans for next year, some of which included:

Planning to gain experience through volunteering in Australia and overseas.

Planning to catch up on project progress now that borders are open again and to revisit projects to see how they have been sustained over 3-5 years.

Finding a plan B in a career change.

Working to ensure community voices are heard in project design and implementation. 

A massive thank you to all those who attended and of course, our city leaders, who so generously shared their time to ensure that all events were a success.

We hope to see you all again next year, until then, have a restful and safe festive season!
